Summary

3xWarped is a collaborative project between Michal Larsson (video artist), Paviter Singh (interactive artist) and Dhruv Vyas (animation artist) at Lasalle, College of the Arts in Singapore. This experiment takes the viewer on an exploration in time, space and energy. Light becomes matter, it forms a part and extends the space, it can also be manipulated. When looking inside the space it becomes a mind dump for the participant performing there. Thoughts becomes visible and embedded in this defined realm. The existence within the space is transient, so is the performance. The thoughts however, persist the chain of events, in form of light.

In the process of creating 3xWarped the group collectively approached the outer extremes of time, space and energy. By looking at the components individually and identifying their unique attributes and how they could be utilised and merged; patterns appeared that would allow the work to take shape. Similar to the preparation where thoughts were pushed towards all possible directions to form a container of ideas, when sampling the space – intuition had already been influenced by the previously developed framework. 3xWarped, being a complex matrix of thoughts and layers, came together only through the relation between our physical presence in the space, together with our thoughts extending out within that very space. It’s not just about the light that illuminates, it’s about defining and extending the space through it, using light.
